Mungyeong
문경시 · Gyeongsangbuk-do
Mungyeong Saejae is the old mountain pass on the Joseon-era road between Seoul and the southeast, still guarded by three restored stone gates. A gentle 6.5 km unpaved trail links the gates through a provincial park, passing an open filming set where Korean historical dramas are shot and hanbok can be rented.

Getting there
There is no direct train; the simplest route is an intercity bus from Seoul (around two hours) to the Mungyeong area, then a short local bus to the Saejae park entrance. SRT to Jeomchon Station with transfers is an alternative but slower.
Best season
Spring (April–May) for cherry blossoms and autumn (October–November) for red maples are the standout times along the pass.
Traveler tip
The gentle 6.5 km trail links three stone gates; the prettiest stretch is between gates one and two, and it gets noticeably steeper beyond gate two — a fine turnaround point if you are tired.
